The sustainability journey

At Hotel Carlos V it not only matters what we create, but also how we create it and what we refuse to destroy, that is why we join the sustainability and development objectives set for the 2030 Agenda.

These are our small gestures for a more sustainable planet:

SDG 2 - Zero hunger

SDG 2 - Zero hunger

We collaborate with Action Against Hunger through its "Solidarity Restaurants" program. We also promote among our customers a "0" waste policy encouraging them to serve only what they are really going to consume and offering the possibility of takeaway food for the uneaten.

SDG 3 - Health and well-being

SDG 3 - Health and well-being

We promote among our team a healthy lifestyle by increasing the consumption of fruits and vegetables in our employee dining room. We make available to all employees an annual medical check-up for the correct health surveillance. Every year we carry out a work environment survey to know what the needs of our entire team are.

SDG 5 - Gender equality

SDG 5 - Gender equality

We have an equality plan through which we establish guarantee measures for equal treatment and opportunities between women and men in the workplace and in which we recognize the right to the reconciliation of personal, family and work life. The 90th of our management team is made up of women.

SDG 8 - Decent work and economic growth

With our activity we promote the creation of local employment and population fixation.

More than 90% of the people who work at the hotel have a fixed stable contract.

SDG 10 - Reducing inequalities

SDG 10 - Reducing inequalities

We work with local associations and NGOs that focus on the labor insertion of people with difficulties in accessing the labor market, either because of their different abilities or because they belong to socially disadvantaged classes. We help in their training and offer paid employment to those who pass their internship with us.

SDG 11 - Sustainable cities and communities

SDG 11 - Sustainable cities and communities

Our hotel is located in a historic and emblematic building of the city thus contributing to the Protection of Heritage. The constant improvements carried out during all these years are focused on improving both the comfort of our customers, as well as the quality of materials and the energy efficiency of our company.

SDG 12 - Responsible production and consumption

SDG 12 - Responsible production and consumption

One of our criteria in the selection of suppliers is proximity, being the purchase of Km 0 products, along with quality, one of the fundamental pillars in our purchasing process. We also select seasonal products for the realization of our menu and menus.

SDG 13 - Climate action

SDG 13 - Climate action

We plant trees in your name; Every day you give up the cleaning of your room (except the day of departure) we will plant a tree in your name, thus contributing to the improvement of the forest mass and the reduction of CO2 in the environment. We are committed to eliminating single-use plastics both in the rooms and in all the materials used in the hotel gradually.

SDG 17 - Partnerships to achieve the goals
